Known locally as 'Bay', this beautiful, unspoilt, seaside village nestles on the cliffside on the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast. It is situated some 3 miles south of Whitby and 15 north of Scarborough. The village is within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.

With its twisting cobbled lanes and ancient fisherman's cottages clinging to the side of the cliff, Robin Hoods Bay is so very atmospheric and provides a picture postcard view at every turn.
There are numerous good-quality places to eat as well as pubs offering both food and drink.
Browse the little, quaint, shops for antiques, books, jewellery and art work. Or treat yourself to some old-fashioned sweets or ice-cream at the traditional shops. If you need a break from roaming the cobbled alleyways there is plenty of choice for a cup of tea or coffee and a relax.
Red Pantiles decorate the roofs of the stone cottages and a stream passes through the village, disappearing below the cottages and reappearing as it joins the sea. Now a romantic sought after location, the village has changed little since the days of smuggling and contraban. It is said that a barrel of rum could pass from the sea shore to the top of the village without ever seeing daylight, due to the secret network of tunnels linking numerous cottages!
The beach is ideal for fossil hunting and investigating rock pools for the myriad of marine life. Look out to sea for the chance of spotting a visiting seal.
There are wonderful scenic walks surrounding the area as well as within the village itself. The Cleveland Way Coastal Walk passes through the village and leads to a breathtaking clifftop pathway..JPG)
Just a short drive away there is the beatiful countryside and moors of 'Heartbeat' country (Goathland, where the TV series is set). The North Yorkshire Steam Railway is also close by. Why not take a ride on these fully functioning steam engines to sample a taste of what a journey was like during the golden days of the Railways.
There is something for everyone at Robin Hoods Bay and in the nearby attractions of the Heritage Coast, Whitby and The North Yorkshire Moors National Park.
